Murdered Tilburg woman's car found

The car of Hennie de Laat, who was found murdered on Hoogvensestraat in Tilburg on Saturday, was found on Bachlaan in the city on Tuesday morning. A police officer noticed the Opel Corsa parked on the street. The police are looking for witnesses who saw the car being parked, Omroep Brabant reports.

The police launched an extensive investigation on Bachlaan immediately after the car was found around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Forensic investigators and sniffer dogs combed the area, according to the broadcaster. A helicopter was deployed to take aerial photographs.

A local resident told Omroep Brabant that the car has stood in that spot since Christmas day. Before that it stood further down the street, with its nose pointing in the other direction.

A passerby found Hennie de Laat dead on Hoogvensestraat just before midnight on Saturday, several kilometers from where her car was found on Tuesday. An autopsy will be done on the woman's body on Wednesday. The police hope that this will provide more information on the cause of her death.

Relatives of the victim organized a silent march through the city on Wednesday. Participants are asked to bring a red ribbon along.
