Vigil arranged for woman murdered in Tilburg

Family members and friends of Hennie de Laat, a 58-year-old woman found murdered on Hoogvensestraat in Tilburg on Saturday, are arranging a vigil for her on Wednesday, Brabants Dagblad reports.

The vigil will start at 7:00 p.m. Participants are asked to gather on Veestraat, from where they will silently march through the city. Those who want to join the march, are asked to bring a red ribbon along.

"Hennie was very nice", a friend said to Brabants Dagblad. "When I heard that she died, I thought of all the diseases that you can get at age 58, a heart attack or something. But this is unimaginable." A condolence register was opened for Hennie de Laat. "We are so shocked. We knew you as a good-natured woman who came across well", one friend wrote. Another: "I have always found you a wonderful person. You were a very sweet woman."

A passerby found De Laat's body on Hoogvensestraat just before midnight on Saturday. The police quickly determined that she had been murdered. Twenty detectives are working on this case. So far the motive for her murder is unclear. "We haven't received any useful tips yet", a police spokesperson said to RTL Nieuws.
