Busiest rush hour record broken second day in a row

For the second day in a row, the record for the busiest morning rush hour of the year was broken on Dutch roads. At the peak of rush hour at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, there were 894 kilometers of traffic jams on Dutch highways and provincial roads, five kilometers longer than yesterday, according to the ANWB.

"Tuesday is always the busiest morning rush hour, but it can not be ruled out that more records will be broken in the coming days", an ANWB spokesperson said to broadcaster NOS.

Traffic on Dutch roads in November is a recurring problem, according to the ANWB. With the December holidays approaching, fewer people take off from work. The rainy weather on Tuesday morning also contributed to the traffic.

The longest traffic jams were on the A4 between Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the A2 between Den Bosch and Utrecht, and the A27 near Utrecht.
