Rain, accidents cause busiest morning rush hour of the year
Monday was the busiest morning rush hour of the year due to a large number of accidents and rain in many places, according to the ANWB. At the peak of morning rush hour, there was 889 kilometers of traffic jams on Dutch roads, NOS reports.
The Randstad and the southern parts of the Netherlands saw the most problems on Monday morning. There were long traffic jams on the A4, A58 and A12. On the A9 between Alkmaar and Diemen, there was a delay of up to 50 minutes.
There were accidents on the A12 towards The Hague, A50 towards Eindhoven, A29 towards Rotterdam, A27 towards Utrecht, A4 towards The Hague, A37 towards Hoogeveen, A9 towards Diemen, A10 between Hemhavens and Buitenveldert, A20 towards Hoek van Holland, A58 towards Tilburg, and A4 towards Amsterdam, the ANWB reported on Twitter.
Before the record was broken on Monday, the busiest morning rush hour of the year was on Thursday, October 5th with 793 kilometers of traffic jams on highways and provincial roads.
