Some 200 bikers fined during Amsterdam run

The Amsterdam police noted down the details of some 200 motorcyclists during a joint trip through the city on Sunday. These bikers will soon receive fines for various traffic violations, the police said.

Between 900 and 1,000 motorcyclists gathered on Sloterweg at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday for a joint run organized on social media. The Amsterdam police deployed all available motorcycle officers and a number of other units in police cars and undercover cars to keep an eye on the event.

Despite multiple police warnings, about 200 of the participating bikers committed a number of traffic violations, according to the police. These included driving through red lights, driving over bike paths, sidewalks and emergency lanes and doing wheelies. A few will also be fined for covering up their license plates and riding without a helmet.

The offenders will soon receive fines, the height of which will depend on the severity of the violation. Three bikers will have to undergo a driving test because the police doubt their driving skills.
