Eindhoven shooting victim had criminal record; gang violence suspected

The man found dead on Memlincstraat in Eindhoven on Sunday morning was identified as 32-year-old Johan van Boxtel. He had a criminal record and the police that this may have been a gang related shooting. The police are looking for more information about the victim's life and his whereabouts and activities on Saturday and the early hours of Sunday morning.

Van Boxtel's body was found next to a car on Memlincstraat around 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. He was shot and killed. The police released a recent photo of the victim and call on anyone who saw him on Saturday or Sunday to contact the 20 detectives working on the case.

Van Boxtel was convicted in December for attempted arson at a tanning salon in Oss, the fifth attempt to burn down the salon since 2013, according to Omroep Brabant. As Van Boxtel had no motive for targeting the salon, the police believe he was acting under orders.
