Coldest autumn night of the century measured in Netherlands

Monday night was the coldest autumn night of this century for the Netherlands, with a minimum temperature of -6.6 degrees Celsius measured at De Bilt. The last time it was this cold was in the fall of 1998, when a minimum temperature of -8.5 degrees was measured, according to Weeronline.

The east of the country had an even colder night, with temperatures of -11.9 degrees measured in Enschede.

Tuesday will be sunny with maximum of 3 degrees. Tuesday night will dip below zero again, but is expected to be less cold. The rest of the week is also expected to be somewhat milder.

Traffic information service VID expects a busy rush hour on Tuesday morning due to slick roads.
