Traffic stop ends in money laundering arrest

The police arrested a 44-year-old man on the A16 near Zevenbergschen Hoek on Tuesday night after stopping him for a broken taillight. He is internationally wanted for money laundering and had 107 thousand British pounds in his car, the police said in a statement.

The officers noticed the car with the broken taillight around midnight on Tuesday and pulled him over. After getting the man's identity, they realized that there is an international arrest warrant against him. The man is a suspect in a French money laundering case. In 2011 the an from Rijswijk was arrested with 500 thousand euros in his car.

The suspect could not explain why he had so much money in British pounds on him. He is in custody and will be extradited to France as soon as possible.
