Boy injured in Breda hit and run; Driver still wanted

With reporting by Jacopo Bernardini. Police in Breda are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck an 11-year-old boy Sunday evening. The driver briefly stopped before driving away police said. It happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday when the boy was hit by a green Alfa Romeo as he crossed the street at the intersection of Arubastraat and Sabastraat. The Alfa Romeo approached from Monseigneur Frenckenstraat, just a few meters west of the intersection. The car hit the boy, injuring his ankle. The driver, in his early twenties, then got out of the car, and scolded the victim, telling the boy he was not driving fast, the victim’s father told police. The driver then drove off. He is described as a white man, 1.75 meters tall, wearing jeans. Police did not reveal the model of Alfa Romeo. Police were still looking for the man and his vehicle as of 9:45 a.m. on Monday. It is at least the second hit-and-run involving a child in Breda within a week. A three-year-old boy named Nasim was killed in a crash Wednesday night. The driver, 18, turned himself in at a police station the next day.
