Dutch MP who resigned for Clinton campaign now working as volunteer
Wassila Hachchi, the D66 parliamentarian who resigned to go work for American presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, still has not been able to find a paid job in Clinton's campaign. She is handing out flyers as a volunteer, the Telegraaf reports.
According to the newspaper, Hachchi was definitely distributing flyers for the Democrats candidate in New Hampshire. She did so on a completely voluntary basis, only her accommodation was paid.
In the mean time, the former Dutch parliamentarian does not have to worry about income. The Netherlands still pays her 6,800 euros per month in non-active allowance.
Hachchi announced her immediate resignation late in January. Her departure came as a surprise to her party, the D66, and caused quite a commotion.
