The VVD, CDA, D66 and ChristenUnie are now really very almost done with their , ChristenUnie leader Gert-Jan Segers said to NOS on Friday afternoon. But he thinks the four parties will have to meet again on Monday.

There will be no meetings over the weekend. The ChristenUnie respects the Sunday rest. "And on Saturday I have other plans", Segers said to the broadcaster.

ING employees in the Netherlands will soon have the right to a month's paid paternity leave at the birth of a new child, according to the new collective bargaining agreement the bank made with unions FNV Finance, De Unie and CNV Vakmensen. This appointment also applies to non-biological mothers, NU.nl reports.

Amsterdam is launching an experiment in paying welfare recipients for their voluntary work, alderman Arjan Vliegenthart announced. He set up this experiment in collaboration with neighborhood Oost based on a study that shows that volunteer work is dissatisfying in the long run if there is no reward, Het Parool reports.

Amsterdam more than reached its goal on helping unemployed people in the city find work last year. In 2016 a total of 5,927 Amsterdam residents on welfare went back to work. The target was 4,200, the city announced in a press release, AT5 reports.

The city also guided more than 6,900 unemployed young people into training or work and another 4,500 long-term unemployed Amsterdam residents now volunteer or have meaningful daytime activities, according to the press release.

In the coming years the Dutch government will be giving more refugees the opportunity to do volunteer work in the country with the aim of helping them with their integration, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment announced on Saturday. Minister Lodewijk Asscher made a million euros available to create about 14 thousand volunteer jobs

Former parliamentarian Wassila Hachchi resigned from the D66, she and the party announced in a joint statement. Her decision was made in consultation with the party following critique about her sudden departure from Parliament in January to go work on the Hillary Clinton campaign, where she's only done volunteer work so far.
