Violent convict suspected of beating, robbing elderly man

The police are looking for Limburg convict Hendrik M. and his girlfriend. They are suspected of assaulting and robbing a 78 year old man on the A2 in Den Bosch during the early hours of December 31st. The victim knows the two suspects, Omroep Brabant reports. The couple was with the elderly man in his van. Around 2:15 a.m. they forced him to stop in a secluded spot along the A2 highway near Den Bosch. He was forced out of his van and assaulted. The suspects fled in the elderly man's van. The victim was lightly wounded and called the police himself. Officers took him home. The van was found in Weert a short time later. The 39 year old M. was previously sentenced to time in a psychiatric institution for the "hours-long rape" of a young woman, according to the broadcaster. His criminal record also includes violent crimes, burglaries and rapes.
