Mom, daughter found killed in Lelystad crawlspace; Neighbors shocked

Update, 3:30 p.m., 14 December 2015: New information related to Alex L. being detained was added to the story. With reporting by Zack Newmark. The two bodies that were discovered in a home on Kinslemeerstraat on Sunday evening were identified as 16 year old Fleur van der Mark and her Mother Manon Pieters. The bodies were killed in a "gruesome way" found hidden in a crawl space, the Telegraaf reports based on sources close to the investigation. Police are questioning Alex L., Pieters' partner and Van der Mark's stepfather, in the case. He was detained and transferred to a police station, but officers stopped short of saying he was formally arrested in the case in a statement about the case. The police launched a search on Sunday afternoon after the family's teenage son sounded the alarm because he could not get hold of his mother, sister and stepfather, neighbors told the newspaper. A source told the paper that Alex L. is a suspect in the case, though investigators have not publicly identified him as such. A family member posted a call for information on Facebook. The search led to the discovery of the mother and teenage girl's bodies around 11:00 p.m.

L. was not home when the police searched the family's home on Sunday night, with a relative saying he had visited his mother's home. A spokesperson for the police told Omroep Flevoland that the investigation will take most of Monday and that they are considering all scenarios. According to a community officer, there was no previous contact between the family and the police. No arrests have been made. The family's next door neighbors describe them as "normal. They never noticed any kind of problems or arguments in the home. https://www.facebook.com/kim.vanhartenpieters/posts/863189767135944?pnref=story
