Two adults found dead in water at holiday park in Posterholt
Two adults were found dead Tuesday afternoon at a holiday park in Posterholt, Limburg, local police reported. One body was discovered at the water’s edge, while the other was found in the water. Firefighters have recovered the second body.
The first call to emergency services came at 2:34 p.m. Police, paramedics, firefighters, and a medical trauma team were dispatched immediately. Drones and helicopters were also deployed to assist at the scene. Schools in the central and southern regions of the Netherlands are on vacation this week.
The victims’ identities have not been released, and the circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation, according to a police spokesperson. “The police are investigating the identity of both persons and the circumstances of their death. More information will follow,” the police wrote on X.
Authorities conducted extensive searches in and around the water but have since ended the operation. Large numbers of police and fire personnel were present at the holiday park on 1e Heuvelenweg during the response, L1 reports.
