Paris terrorist Salah Abdeslam caught in Netherlands with drugs in February

Salah Abdeslam, one of the suspects in the Paris terrorists attacks, was apprehended in the Netherlands during a traffic check in February this year. He was fined 70 euros for the possession of soft drugs and sent on his way. A spokesperson for the police confirmed this to the Telegraaf. Abdeslam and his brother were on their way to Belgium when the police stopped them on the A27 near Gorinchem. "A small quantity of soft drugs was found during the search of the vehicle", the spokesperson said to the newspaper. The police checked Abdeselam and his brother's details. He was not on the police systems and no alert was issued for him. "There was therefore no legal basis to warrant further investigation." The soft drugs were confiscated and Abdeslam was sent on his way with a fine. Three of the Paris terrorist suspects were arrested in Germany, near the Dutch border, on Tuesday. A staff member at a discount retailer thought she recognized Salah Abdeslam with the group, but this has not been confirmed.
