Three Dutch arrested in Bulgaria on terrorism claim

Authorities in Bulgaria arrested three Dutch people suspected of plotting to join ISIS. The trio were caught trying to cross the border from the village of Kapitan Andreevo into Turkey, investigators allege. Among those in custody are an 18-year-old Almere boy and a 17-year-old Utrecht girl. The third person is a man, possibly aged 22, RTL Nieuws reported based on Bulgarian media. The Almere teen was reported missing on Friday, prompting the public prosecutor to put out an international arrest warrant for him, the prosecutor's office told RTL. The girl also went missing on Friday, but it was not publicly released that the two could be traveling together. The three are believed to have spent time together at a hotel in Sofia before making their way to Kapitan Andreevo. Apparently, the two men were arrested first, and the girl was caught four hours later. Prosecutors plan to request the extradition of all three suspects. Investigators plan to determine if the three were in fact headed for Syria, with Bulgaria oftentimes used as a stop on a route Syria and Iraq via Turkey, both newswire AFP and RTL reported.
