Rotterdam train standoff ends with one arrest, no injuries

The Rotterdam police has managed to get the suspicious passenger on the Thalys train at Rotterdam Central Station out of the train's bathroom. Video from the scene shows that the suspicious passenger lying on the floor of the train. He appears to be a younger man with dark curly hair. The police brought the suspect out of the train and frisked him on the side of the train. He went limp and was taken back into the train. According to the heavily armed police, the man is in custody. The arrest went without problems, thanks to the SWAT team and the police dog. No one was injured. At this stage it is unclear whether the suspect was armed. This standoff caused disruptions in train traffic all across the Netherlands, with delays running up to more than 60 minutes. It is unclear when the train traffic will be back on schedule. The NS personnel on Amsterdam Central Station have announced that the Thalys train 9328 for 9:17 a.m. will not be cancelled. It will depart from Amsterdam but be diverted to Den Bosch. Other trains scheduled for Rotterdam Central Station will be rerouted either to Rotterdam Noord or elsewhere. NS has confirmed that trains between Meppel and Hoogeveen are running again.
