Dutch football assoc. investigating Nike deal after FIFA scandal

Dutch football association KNVB is investigating its sponsorship deal with clothing manufacturer Nike, a spokesperson for the association confirmed on Tuesday. The reason for this investigation is the involvement of ex-Nike director Cees van Nieuwehuizen in a controversial contract with Brazil's international team, RTL Nieuws reports. The retired Dutchman also played a key role in the deal between KNVB and Nike. "We have no indication that something isn't right, but we are still going to completely figure it out", the KNVB spokesperson said. Although the company has not been accused of any wrong doing, it is suspected that Nike paid bribes in order to exclusively supply sportswear to the Brazilian team. This deal is part of the FBI's investigation into corruption in football.
