Rotterdam Indian restaurant firebombed, say witnesses

The fire that destroyed Etje's Little Idia on Gerrit van der Lindestraat in Nieuwe Westen, Rotterdam last night, was the result of a targeted attack. This is according to local residents who saw two perpetrators fleeing the scene after the fire started. The fire started just after midnight. Residents of the apartments above the store had to be evacuated. No one was injured. The fire department managed to get the fire under control fairly quickly. Firefighters also checked that all three of the apartments above the restaurant was empty. "I heard the window of the store break with two ticks, I looked outside and saw a firebomb thrown in", a neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, told the AD. "One of those two guys doesn't have eyebrows anymore because the flames shot out. Then they ran quickly away into a side street, wearing hoods." Another neighbor saw the perpetrators spraying flammable liquid into the store. Eva Mol and Richard Luijckx live above the store. They were in bed when they heard a loud bang. "I looked out the window, in the street someone from a car shouted that I had to leave my house quickly because there was a fire." They grabbed their cat and alerted the neighbors. Firefighters told them that the apartments suffered considerable damage. "The most important thing is that we are still alive, but this is still terrible. Many of our things are lost forever." Mol said to the AD. The police and firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.
