€25,000 cheese slicer stolen from Amsterdam museum

The world's most expensive cheese slicer, worth 25 thousand euros, was stolen from the Amsterdam Cheese Museum over the weekend, Het Parool reports.

The slicer was stolen from a locked cabinet in the basement of the museum on Saturday while the museum was open. One of the museum's employees discovered that the slicer was missing that evening. According to a spokesperson for the museum, the perpetrators are probably two men caught on the surveillance camera. A composite sketch is being made based on the camera footage. The cheese slicer was made in 2007 in collaboration with the Argentinian designer Rodrigo Otazu. "At first I thought that the theft was a cheesy joke, in a month it is April 1st after all, but that was not so", Martijn Bos, director of cheese slicer manufacturer Boska, said to the newspaper. The person who gives the golden tip that leads to the thieves, will be rewarded with a cheese package and the world's largest cheese fondue.
