Shooting victim unable to walk again: gunmen sought
A 27-year old man shot and injured in an incident in Terneuzen, Zeeland will likely not be able to walk again, police said on Monday. The shooting took place on December 16th last year, and at least one gunman is still at large.
The victim was shot in two separate incidents in a matter of weeks. Right after he was released from custody following the investigation into the shooting of Gideon Verhelst, in which he was injured as well, he was then gunned down a second time. Both of the shootings happened in Terneuzen.
The 27-year-old victim was released from custody on December 16th. He used public transportation to get back to Terneuzen where he met two men who shot him at close range around 7 p.m. He was seriously injured and suffered a spinal injury affecting his ability to walk.
After the shooting, two men were seen running towards Beukenstraat and Baandijk where they disappeared from sight. Police are looking for witnesses who could have seen the perpetrators before or after the incident.
