UberPOP expands to Rotterdam, the Hague

The controversial transport service UberPOP is now also available in Rotterdam and the Hague. Through UberPop individuals in their own cars drive customers around for half the price of a taxi. The rides can be ordered through a special app. UberPOP has been available in Amsterdam since this summer. The government thinks that UberPOP is an illegal taxi service because drivers do not meet the requirements of the Taxi Act. They do not have a taxi license. The timing of the expansion is remarkable, just before a court ruling on the taxi service. On Monday the administrative court will rule in a summary proceedings.
