Fatal stabbing at A'dam birthday party

A birthday party ended in tragedy early this morning, when a 43-year-old-man from Amsterdam was stabbed to death.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the stabbing. The two were both at a party at Magalhaen Square, where a family member of theirs was celebrating his birthday; apparently the 19-year-old got incensed when the older man slapped two women. When a policeman on a motorbike arrived on the scene, the 43-year-old ran away, chased by the younger man. The stabbing took place at Willem Schouten street. The victim died on the spot. The suspect was arrested shortly after.
