ING: Account holders must recover their cash

Clients who accidentally paid out the same amount via internet banking due to a disruption at ING have to find a way to get that money back themselves. According to ING, it is not possible to assess "whether the client did this by accident or on purpose" the Telegraaf writes. Due to technical problems, the website and the phone app didn't work for hours on Tuesday. Despite the disruptions, depositing money was still possible via the app. Whoever tried this got the error message 'please try again'. Unbeknownst to them, however, the money was transferred. The bank received a torrent of complaints about double-payments on the internet. The bank wants users to retrieve the money themselves. "It is the responsibility of the user, also during a disruption", a spokesperson for the ING said.
