Rabobank customers scammed for hundreds of thousands

A gang of criminals has robbed Rabobank clients for hundreds of thousand, since July, by scamming them out of internet banking codes, announced the police Monday. With the access gained to the accounts, the criminals shopped at jewelry stores. A woman, posing as a bank employee, asked people for their login and signing codes. Rabobank / Flickr Beforehand, the jewelers were approached with the request if certain expensive watches were still in stock, which were then paid for with money from the account of the victim. A criminal, posing as a family member of the victim, would pick up the order in the store. Some cars were also ordered. So far five people were arrested for the theft of 200,000 euros in total. The police don't rule out more arrests will follow. In some cases, transfers were prevented by Rabobank or the jeweler involved, because of suspicion of fraud, otherwise the damage would have been much more extensive.
