Three Russian crew Greenpeace ship released on bail
Three Russians, including a doctor and a photographer, who were on board the Dutch ship Arctic Sunrise, may be released on bail, ruled the court in St. Petersburg Monday.
The court ruled Monday that the doctor Yekaterina Zaspa, and photographer Denis Sinjakov, may be released on about 90,000 euros in bail, reported Greenpeace. The environmental organization announced Monday evening Andrej Allachverdov may also be released on bail. The organization announced it may take up to two days to get the money together.

Wikimedia commons The three Russians were among the 30 people on board the ship that, according to the Russians, violated their laws when campaigning against oil drilling off the north coast of the country. The Arctic Sunrise sails under Dutch Flag and had two Dutch among its international crew. The bail for the two Russians totals about 90,000 euros. The detention of the foreign suspects is likely to be extended till February, but the court has to determine that before November 24. It is not clear why Zaspa and Sinjakov were released on bail. Possibly it is because they are Russians and they can not leave as easily as foreigners can. The suggestion that they have not tried to climb a gas platform of the company Gazprom as a protest, unlike others, does not seem likely. The Australian Colin Russell did not either, but the judge refused to release him on bail Monday and extended the preliminary custody till February 24. The custody of the 30 people on board runs out November 24 . They are accused of hooliganism, resisting government officials, and piracy . The request for extended custody was not based on the accusation of piracy, according to Greenpeace. It seems the prosecutors no longer focus on that accusation, but it was not formally repealed. The crew of the ship face up to seven years in prison on the basis of the lighter charges of hooliganism and resisting government officials. They have been detained since September 18.
