Missing Apeldoorn teen found in Poland after weeks-long search
A 15-year-old boy from Apeldoorn who disappeared nearly three weeks ago after leaving home on a bicycle was found in Białystok, Poland, after police responded to a report of a person sleeping at a bus stop outside the city, RTL reports.
The teen, Maxim, left his home in the Zuidbroek neighborhood of Apeldoorn on Saturday, April 18, around 12 p.m. He was reported missing shortly afterward.
Dutch police said he likely intended to travel via Twente into Germany, continue through Poland, and possibly reach Russia. The location where he was found is in eastern Poland. Białystok is tens of kilometers from the border with Belarus and about 1,400 kilometers from Apeldoorn.
On Friday night, just before midnight, police in Białystok received a report of a person lying at a bus stop outside the city. Officers responding to the scene found a teenager sleeping under a blanket. The boy turned out to be Maxim.
