Three Dutch people killed in traffic accident in France

Three Dutch nationals were killed, and two others were injured when two vehicles collided in northern France, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. in the municipality of Jeantes. One car ended up overturned on the road. Twenty-five firefighters responded to assist at the scene.

All three who died were riding in the same car. They were a 71-year-old woman and two men aged 58 and 74, according to the French newspaper Le Courrier. The newspaper reported that the three owned homes in the area.

A 79-year-old Dutch man in the same vehicle was seriously injured and flown by helicopter to the university hospital in Reims. “He is in life-threatening condition,” the police commander at the scene told Le Courrier.

The Dutch car's fifth occupant, a 58-year-old woman, and the other vehicle's 18-year-old driver sustained minor injuries.

The ministry confirmed the deaths after Le Courrier’s reporting. “It is known to us that three Dutch people have died,” a ministry spokesperson said. “We stand ready to provide consular assistance.”
