Lawyer silent ahead of hearing in case involving alleged plot against Dutch Princesses

The lawyer representing the man accused of planning an attack on Princess Amalia and Princess Alexia says he will not provide any further details to the media before the court hearing. Lawyer Tinco Delhaye told the ANP on Friday that he “will present the defense’s position during the hearing.”

The suspect is a 33-year-old man from Friesland, Omroep Fryslan reports. He is said to have been arrested in The Hague in February 2026 on suspicion of planning the alleged attack.

Prosecutors say the suspect allegedly had two axes with the words “Alexia,” “Mossad,” and “Sieg Heil” carved into them, as well as a handwritten note containing the words “Amalia,” “Alexia,” and “bloodbath.”

The suspect is currently being held in custody. Authorities have not yet released details about how developed the alleged plans were or what the possible motive may have been. Princess Amalia has been the target of threats in the past.

The pro forma hearing is set for the morning of Monday, May 4, the day of the National Remembrance. It will take place at the court in The Hague between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. It is a pro forma session. That means the case itself will not be discussed yet; instead, the judge will review how the investigation is progressing and decide whether the suspect should stay in custody. The hearing will be held at the court in The Hague.

In 2022, Princess-Amalia faced serious threats linked to organised crime, which led her to adjust her living arrangements and spend time abroad, including in Madrid.
