Explosions damage two homes in Roermond, police seek witnesses

Two homes in Roermond were damaged early Sunday after a loud explosion, believed to involve heavy fireworks, police said. No one was injured in the incident, L1 reports.

The blast occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Ambachtsingel. Authorities have cordoned off part of the street to conduct investigations. Police are seeking witnesses and any video footage from doorbells or dashcams that might help identify the perpetrators.

Roermond has experienced similar incidents in recent years, often involving fireworks bombs. L1 reported that suspects in past explosions have sometimes fled the scene on foot.

The current event follows a separate incident at the beginning of March on Zwanenzetel, where a loud bang destroyed a front door. Initial fears that explosives were involved were later dismissed; investigators concluded that the damage was caused by vandalism.
