Fireworks accidents kill teen in Nijmegen, man in Aalsmeer; Two hurt in The Hague
A 38-year-old man from Aalsmeer and a 17-year-old boy from Nijmegen died in separate fireworks-related accidents in the early hours of Thursday, authorities reported.
The Aalsmeer incident occurred around 2:15 a.m., when emergency services responded to a report of a fireworks accident at the man’s residence. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the victim did not survive. Police are investigating the circumstances.
Earlier, around 12:30 a.m., a 17-year-old boy in Nijmegen was killed in a fireworks accident on the Meeuwse Acker, according to local media outlet De Gelderlander. Police have not provided further details, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In a separate event in The Hague, two people were injured in a fireworks-related incident on Televisiestraat. A police spokesperson said emergency responders who arrived at the scene were harassed. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released additional information.
