Four base jumpers leap from Amsterdam’s 103-meter Amstel Tower; Police investigate

Four basejumpers jumped from the 103-meter-high Amstel Tower near Amstelstation in Amsterdam on Sunday morning, prompting a police investigation into what may have been an illegal stunt. According to AT5, this is the second such incident at the site in recent weeks.

The group jumped at around 9:45 a.m. Residents and passersby spotted the parachutists landing near the tower. A nearby resident said, “I have no idea what the reason is. They also left very quickly; I think they did it illegally. Nothing was cordoned off, and it seems pretty dangerous—there isn’t much space here.”

Footage obtained later by AT5 from another witness showed the four leaping from the tower’s rooftop. The residential tower, which also houses a hotel, rises 103 meters above the ground.

A police spokesperson confirmed that officers received reports of the jump and responded to the scene near Amstelstation, but the jumpers were no longer present. “We want to find out who they are, so images or witness accounts would be very helpful,” the spokesperson said.

She added that authorities cannot yet confirm whether the jump was illegal. The investigation is ongoing.

This is not the first time residents have witnessed parachutists landing at Amstel Tower. On the night of December 11–12, one resident captured similar footage of a base jump from the same location.
