Amsterdam teen arrested after customs seize 400 illegal weapons

A 17-year-old boy from Amsterdam was arrested after Dutch authorities discovered hundreds of illegal weapons following the interception of a package at Schiphol Airport, police said.

Customs officers flagged the shipment for inspection and found multiple prohibited weapons inside. Using the name and address on the package, police quickly identified the recipient, and the Amsterdam police took over the investigation.

A search of the boy’s home uncovered about 400 weapons, including pepper spray, brass knuckles, and stun guns.

Police urged the public to report any suspicions of illegal weapons storage, trade, or transport. Reports can be made via 0900-8844, or anonymously through Meld Misdaad Anoniem at 0800-7000.
