Police release footage of Amsterdam Jewish explosion school suspects
Amsterdam police have released surveillance images of two suspects in a Jewish school attack on Zeelandstraat in Amsterdam-Zuid, while four men arrested in Rotterdam—a 19-year-old pair, an 18-year-old, and a 17-year-old—face charges of causing an explosion, arson, and attempted arson with terrorist intent, RTL reported.
The Amsterdam attack occurred early Saturday, March 14, when two suspects arrived on a motor scooter around 3:45 a.m., placed an explosive device against the school’s exterior wall, and fled toward Van Nijenrodeweg. Quick police and fire department intervention limited property damage.
Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the suspects, the scooter, or any other details from the footage to contact the investigation team immediately. Citizens with security camera, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage from the area between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m. are asked to submit it via the police tip form, citing case number 2026063523. Anonymous tips can also be reported at 0800-7000.
The attack is being treated as a deliberate strike against the Jewish community. “The Amsterdam triangle—municipality, public prosecution, and police—considers this a targeted attack on the Jewish community and takes it very seriously,” police said.
Security at Jewish institutions in Amsterdam had already been increased following previous incidents in Liège and Rotterdam. Investigators are examining potential links to the explosion at a synagogue in Rotterdam and another blast on Strawinskylaan in Amsterdam on March 15-16.
In Rotterdam, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) has charged four individuals arrested for an explosion at a synagogue on A.B.N. Davidsplein with terrorism-related offenses. According to RTL Nieuws, the suspects—two 19-year-olds, an 18-year-old, and a 17-year-old—are accused of causing an explosion, arson, and attempted arson, all with terrorist intent.
“We speak of a terrorist intent in this case because we believe the four men committed the acts to instill serious fear in a population group, in this case the Jewish community,” the OM told RTL Nieuws. Police are investigating possible links between the Rotterdam arrests and the recent Amsterdam incidents.
