Suspect in Lisa's murder heard voices, can't remember killing 17-year-old girl

The man suspected of killing 17-year-old Lisa from Abcoude and raping a 30-year-old woman in Amsterdam in August told the police that he heard voices and couldn't remember the nights of the crimes, the prosecutor revealed in the first preliminary hearing against the man on Tuesday. The prosecutor revealed some disturbing details during the hearing. The “probably 22-year-old man from Nigeria” will remain in custody. He will also be sent for a psychiatric evaluation at the Pieter Baan Center, Parool reports.

Lisa was found murdered near Holterbergweg in Duivendrecht during the early hours of August 21. A man attacked and killed her as she was cycling home from a night out in Amsterdam with friends. He stabbed her 17 times, the police later revealed.

The 17-year-old girl called the emergency number 112 after a man had pushed her bike into the ditch and cycled away. While on the phone with the emergency call center, she started screaming for help, the prosecutor revealed. A short time later, she seemed unable to speak, and a time after that, there was complete silence. When the ambulance arrived at the scene nine minutes after the girl made the call, Lisa was already dead.

The man is also suspected of raping another woman on August 15. The man grabbed the 30-year-old woman on Weesperzijde in Amsterdam, dragged her from the bike path, and raped her for an hour, the prosecutor said in court. He threatened to kill her if she did not submit.

The police arrested the suspect at a nearby asylum shelter the day after Lisa's murder. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) formally suspects him of rape and manslaughter.

The OM has still not been able to confirm the man’s identity. According to Parool, he told the police that his name was Chris Jude and that he was 22 years old and from Nigeria. He said that he grew up in a series of orphanages and heard voices.

The man has no documents to confirm his identity, and the Dutch authorities are still waiting for information from various countries, including Nigeria. The fact that his identity is unconfirmed will not hinder his prosecution, the Prosecutor said.

The police questioned Chris Jude extensively on numerous occasions. He made several detailed statements, but has not provided much clarity about what happened on the nights of Lisa’s murder and the woman’s rape.

He says he can’t remember those nights, the prosecutor said in court. He said that he left the asylum shelter where he was staying because "the voices became too loud." Upon returning, he had a wound on his hand and a knife in his locker, but he didn't know where they came from.
