Dutch arrested at Gaza support protest in London released from custody
All seven Dutch people arrested at a Gaza-support protest in London on Saturday have been released from custody, RTL Nieuws reports. The protest was organized by Palestine Action, a banned organization in Great Britain.
The British police arrested nearly 900 people at the protest for supporting a banned organization. Another 33 were arrested for other offenses, including assaulting police officers. About a thousand people participated in the protest at the British Parliament building.
The British government designated Palestine Action a terrorist organization in July after protesters infiltrated a British air base and spray-painted several aircraft.
Palestine Action says it protests to end “British complicity” in the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza. The Guardian reported that the United Kingdom is conducting hundreds of surveillance flights over Gaza in cooperation with Israel. The UK also still supplies Israel with parts for its F-35 fighter jets.
A month ago, the police arrested 365 people at another Palestine Action protest, and another 100 a day later. Over 100 of them will face prosecution.
