Tall ships arrive in IJmuiden and Beverwijk for kick off of preview event PreSail
It is almost time for SAIL Amsterdam, and the PreSail activities have kicked off in IJmuiden and Beverwijk. The tall ships and other participants will arrive at the IJmuiden Seaport on Monday and Tuesday before sailing to Amsterdam in the SAIL-In parade on Wednesday. Loads of activities are happening during PreSail.
“This festive event has been transformed into a free festival full of shipping, fish, culture, innovation, and sustainability,” the province of Noord-Holland said about PreSail in IJmuiden and Beverwijk on Monday and Tuesday.
In addition to watching the tall ships arrive and opportunities to visit some of the vessels and boats on display, guests can also enjoy performances on three stages on the grounds of the seaport, sample delicious fish prepared by local chefs and fishmongers, visit market stalls and a photo exhibition, and participate in interactive games. There will also be plenty of entertainment for children, including performances for them and sing-along choirs.
The program includes performances by Mike Hennevanger, Nikita, Dizzy met Fred Koridon, Yorick van Norden, and Marco Edam on Monday and Sparkle, Reggae’d Revelation, Hakim, Gerard Alderliefste, and Sixty Pound on Tuesday. The festival will close with a performance by the band Chef’Special. The full program, which kicks off at noon on Monday, is available on the event's website.
Exactly when the tall ships will start arriving is unclear, as it depends on the wind and weather conditions. PreSail advised interested people to keep an eye on their social media for updates.
