Two shootings rock Amsterdam within 30 minutes; one man seriously injured
Two separate shootings occurred in Amsterdam within a short time frame on Saturday evening, leaving one man seriously wounded, according to NOS.
The first incident happened around 7 p.m. at Geldershoofd in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. A 27-year-old man was shot and sustained serious injuries but remained conscious and responsive. Police are actively searching for the shooter, who reportedly fled the scene shortly after the attack by getting into a small car.
About 30 minutes earlier, another shooting took place in Westerpark, a busy area filled with people at the time. Despite multiple gunshots being fired, no injuries were reported. A police spokesperson said, “Wonder above wonder, no one was hurt.”
Witnesses at Westerpark reported hearing several gunshots and saw a man running away carrying a firearm toward Spaarndammerstraat. Police found five shell casings at the scene. Authorities are investigating both shootings and have not yet said if the incidents are connected.
