Pedestrian, 33, killed in hit-and-run in Hattem; Two local men arrested
A 33-year-old man from Hattem was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning, police confirmed. The fatal collision occurred around 1:45 a.m. on the Hessenweg, when the victim, a pedestrian, was struck by a passenger vehicle, according to De Telegraaf.
The driver of the car fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police launched a neighborhood investigation that led to the arrest of two local men, aged 23 and 26, both from Hattem. The pair was taken into custody later on Sunday morning and remains in detention.
Authorities have not yet determined which of the two men was driving the car at the time of the incident. A police spokesperson said that question is still under investigation.
The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and cause of the crash. The area around Hessenweg remained under examination Sunday as forensic teams gathered evidence and spoke with residents.
