Thousands gather in Eindhoven as PSV celebrates Eredivisie victory

Thousands of PSV fans have packed the center of Eindhoven this evening as the club’s championship parade reaches its climax with the official tribute on the city hall staircase at 6:30 p.m., according to PSV Inside.

The team secured the Eredivisie title Sunday afternoon with a decisive 1-3 win over Sparta Rotterdam. Today, celebrations have been underway since 2 p.m., when festivities began on the Stadhuisplein and the Markt—both transformed into event locations by the city of Eindhoven.

PSV’s players and coaching staff departed from the Philips Stadion at 4 p.m. on a traditional flatbed truck and have since been moving through the city to deafening cheers from the public. The parade route took them along Frederiklaan, St. Antoniusstraat, Willemstraat, Vonderweg, Mathildelaan, 18 Septemberplein, Vestdijk, Hertogstraat, P.C. Hooftlaan, and Wal, ending at the Stadhuisplein.

With the Stadhuisplein and Markt now filled to capacity, fans are continuing the party at overflow sites including the 18 Septemberplein, the Catharinaplein, and the Oude Stadsgracht. Giant screens have been set up at all locations to broadcast the celebration live. “It's an incredible day for the city and our supporters,” a city official told PSV Inside. “We’ve seen people arrive early and stay all day. It’s a massive but joyful crowd.”

The city of Eindhoven advised visitors in advance to use public transportation and to expect road closures and congestion throughout the center.
