Police search for father suspected of abducting two children in Beerta
Dutch police are urgently searching for 67-year-old Klaas Bijl, suspected of abducting his two children, Jeffrey, 10, and Emma, 8, from Beerta. The children have been missing since Saturday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.
Authorities believe Bijl took the children without permission and may be traveling with them in a gray Toyota Avensis bearing license plate 77-NLV-4. Police released Bijl’s photo, describing him as a light-skinned man between 1.70 and 1.75 meters tall, with white hair and a white beard, and a sturdy build.
The investigation is being led by a Large-Scale Investigation Team (Team Grootschalige Opsporing, TGO). Because Beerta lies close to the German border, the search area includes parts of Germany. Police have been unable to contact him or the children.
Jeffrey is about 1.50 meters tall. When he went missing, he wore a yellow shirt and black shorts, both branded Sports, along with gray hiking shoes. Emma is around 1.30 meters tall. Authorities do not know what she was wearing but say she had purple athletic shoes on.
Police urge anyone with information on Klaas Bijl, Jeffrey, Emma, or the gray Toyota Avensis to contact the police at 0800-6070 or use the online tip form.
