Oranje awareded the Fair Play Award after FIFA World Cup
The Dutch national team was the most sporting team at the FIFA World Cup 2026. FIFA announced after the final between Spain and Argentina (1-0) that the Netherlands had won the Fair Play Award.
The Netherlands only received three yellow cards at the World Cup. All three happened in the first match against Japan. After that, coach Ronald Koeman’s team remained unpunished in matches against Sweden, Tunisia, and Morocco.
The Netherlands also stood out at the World Cup due to the Oranje supporters’ celebrations ahead of the matches. Long processions of fans walked behind the Oranje Bus towards the stadium.
In Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and Monterrey, the four cities where the Netherlands played, these celebrations also attracted a lot of attention. In both the United States and Mexico, many locals joined in.
An average of over 3,435,000 people in the Netherlands watched the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, according to figures from the National Media Survey. The halftime show featuring Shakira, Justin Bieber, and Madonna, among others, attracted slightly more viewers. An average of 3,490,000 people tuned in during halftime.
