Five men arrested in abduction investigation of missing Hoofddorp woman
Police have arrested five men in connection with the disappearance of a 49-year-old woman from Hoofddorp, who has been missing since Wednesday morning. According to NOS, the woman remains unaccounted for.
Authorities said the suspects include two 37-year-old men from Almere and three others aged 17, 20, and 24 from Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The arrests took place Friday evening as part of a rapidly expanding investigation that police have classified as an abduction case.
The woman vanished after leaving her home on Mosselplaat in Hoofddorp to drive to work. She never arrived. Her car was later found in the Getsewoud-Noord neighborhood of nearby Nieuw-Vennep, police reported. Police also released her picture.
Police have not disclosed what led them to suspect an abduction or how the five men became connected to the case. “We are weighing all shared information with the utmost care,” a spokesperson said.
Multiple investigative teams, including a Major Crime Investigation Team, are working on the case. Police continue to appeal for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious around the time of the woman’s disappearance.
