Music label Def Jam Recordings announces opening of Dutch branch

The American music label Def Jam Recordings are opening a Dutch branch called Def Jam Recordings Amsterdam. The label announced this on Tuesday. The official kick off of the label will be on Friday April 25. The label’s first release will be a song made by artist and PSV footballer Noa Lang, under his artist name Noano, with a single called “Matcha Coco” with rap musician Jonna Fraser.

Music producer Brahim Fourardi will lead the Dutch branch of the label. Fourardi has worked with Dutch artists in the past including Zoë Tauran, Kris Kross Amsterdam, and Antoon. As a manager, he works with artists like Frenna, Kevin, Zoë Tauran and Lijpe.

Fourardi described the position as an honor but also a huge responsibility. “From the Netherlands, we are not only working on impact, but we are also developing artists that can work globally,” Fourardi said.

The label will also house Dutch artists. They want to focus on local talent with international potential, according to the label.

The hip-hop record label was founded in 1984 and has released albums made by artists like LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Def Jam Recordings represents singers like Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Alessia Cara, Big Sean, DJ Khaled and Muni Long.
