Man arrested after intentionally hitting two people with car at Windraak gas station

A 26-year-old man from Hoensbroek was arrested Saturday evening after intentionally driving into two people at a gas station in Windraak. The incident left a 32-year-old woman from Munstergeleen injured.

The incident began around 5:30 p.m. when the suspect got into a verbal altercation with a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman inside the gas station. According to police, the suspect left the station first, but as the pair exited shortly after, he deliberately struck them with his vehicle from behind.

The woman sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Heerlen. The man escaped without physical injuries. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Police launched an investigation and arrested the suspect later that evening at his residence in Hoensbroek. He is being held on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault, and leaving the scene of an accident.
