Second arson attack on roofer’s van in Den Bosch

A delivery van belonging to a roofer in Den Bosch was set on fire early Thursday morning, marking the second such incident in just two days. Police confirmed the arson attack and are investigating the incident as an act of deliberate destruction.

The fire occurred on Monseigneur van Schaikstraat around 6:00 a.m., causing extensive damage to the vehicle. The van’s engine hood was completely melted. The flames also spread to a car parked nearby, further complicating firefighting efforts. The vehicle's fuel tank was ruptured, making it more difficult to control the blaze.

Authorities are not yet sure if the van and the car were owned by the same person. No injuries were reported. Police have not yet made contact with the owner of the vehicles, but investigations are ongoing.

This incident follows a similar attack just a day earlier. On Christmas Eve, a roofer’s van was set alight at the Leyhof in Den Bosch. In that case, surveillance footage showed a person on a bicycle throwing something at the vehicle, leading to a flash fire. The front of the van was completely engulfed in flames. The same roofer had already been targeted three times this year, with previous attacks on both his business and private vehicles.

The incident is part of a larger trend of arson attacks targeting roofers in Den Bosch. In a string of attacks this year, more than 20 explosions have been reported in both cars and homes linked to the roofing industry. These incidents appear to be connected to a violent rivalry between local roofing contractors. Some sources suggest that the attacks are part of a strategy by businesses to eliminate competition in order to take over work, especially during dry periods when the demand for roofing services is lower.

No arrests have been made yet, but the police are treating these incidents as intentional acts of arson.
