Sunshine and temps up to 29 degrees this weekend; Cooler weather next week
Summer is hanging on for a few more days in the Netherlands. Weeronline expects plenty of sunshine and temperatures up to 29 degrees this weekend. “Only Friday may temporarily become a little less warm, especially in the south, due to the influx of clouds and possibly a few showers,” the weather service said. Cooler weather will hit the country next week.
Thursday’s cloudy and sometimes drizzly start will quickly give way to sunshine in the afternoon. The clouds will clear from the northeast to the southwest, and a large part of the afternoon will be “downright sunny everywhere,” Weeronline said. A moderate to strong easterly wind on the north coast also brings very warm air into the country, and thermometers will climb to summer values in almost the entire country. The highest temperatures will be around 29 degrees in the northeast. Zeeland will be the “coolest,” with maximums around 25 degrees.
On Friday, there will be big differences in the weather in the Netherlands. Clouds with possible thunderstorms will enter the country from Belgium. “It is still quite uncertain how far north this area will go, but it seems that mainly the southern half can expect clouds and a chance of an occasional thunderstorm.” The southern half of the country will also be cooler, with maxims between 20 and 24 degrees - still a lot warmer than usual for the time of year.
In the north, the weather should remain dry, with likely a lot of room for the sun. “Here, it will also be a lot warmer with maximums of locally 28 degrees in the northeast.”
Saturday will be a very warm September day, with no rain, plenty of sunshine, and a weak to moderate easterly wind. Maximums will range between 25 and 28 degrees from west to east.
“After a few warm days, Sunday will mark a change in the weather.” The day will be cloudy, with a few showers moving across the country and a chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Maximums will be between 22 degrees in the southwest and 25 degrees in the far east.
The current forecasts expect next week to see cooler and wetter weather. Monday will still be relatively warm, with maximums between 20 and 23 degrees, but temperatures will steadily drop to maximums between 15 and 18 degrees on Wednesday.
