Few new dentists in Netherlands
There are hardly any new dental graduates coming from training programs in the Netherlands. Around 1.47 people per 100,000 inhabitants graduated in 2022. The European statistics service Eurostat reported that only Italy scored worse in Europe based on new figures. The Netherlands was also near the bottom of the European list in 2020 and 2021.
Within the European Union, an average of 3.2 new dentists per 100,000 people were added. The frontrunners are Romania and Portugal. Almost ten dentists per 100,000 inhabitants graduated there, proportionally more than six times as many as in the Netherlands.
Eurostat also reported that in 2022, more than 69,000 doctors graduated in the European Union. This amounts to 15.5 per 100,000 people. Here, the Netherlands scores slightly below average with 14.1.
