Three hurt in two separate shootings in Amsterdam, Sneek

Three people were hurt in two separate shootings in Amsterdam and Sneek on Thursday night. The police arrested one person in connection with the Sneek shooting.

Two men were hurt in the Amsterdam shooting, which happened between the Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena station and the cinema on Hoekenrode at around 11:10 p.m. The emergency services responded en masse, including several ambulances and a trauma team by helicopter.

First responders treated the victims at the scene and then rushed them to a hospital, according to AT5. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

The police cordoned off the area for a trace evidence investigation and started searching for the perpetrators. At noon on Friday, the police had not reported any arrests.

The Sneek shooting happened in a home on Gajus Nautastraat at around 9:00 p.m. A 50-year-old local was injured. Responding officers found the wounded man inside the home, as well as “several firearm-like objects,” the police said. “These items have been confiscated.”

The injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment. The police arrested a 42-year-old man from Sneek for involvement in the shooting.
