Code Yellow warning issued for thunderstorms and heavy gusts of wind
On Sunday, you will need a rain jacket and umbrella. This afternoon, almost the entire country will experience thunderstorms and heavy gusts of wind. The meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for the entire country, except for the Wadden Islands.
The bad weather starts in the south of the country. From 2 p.m., the code yellow warning applies in Limburg, Noord-Brabant, Zeeland, and Zuid-Holland. About an hour later, the same applies to Gelderland, Utrecht, Noord-Holland, Flevoland, and the IJsselmeer region.
Furthermore, the weather warning applies from 4 p.m. in Overijssel, Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland. However, the bad weather will subside by the evening.
According to Weeronline, it will be quite warm this afternoon despite the impending thunderstorms. In the southwest, temperatures will reach 19 degrees, and in the east and northeast of the country, they will rise to 23 degrees.
Clouds will increase across the country from Sunday afternoon, and some showers and thunderstorms will move in from the southwest. Locally, heavy showers with hail and gales of up to 80 km/h are expected.
